Can a nonprofit run on GoHighLevel?
Yes for outreach, partly for fundraising. GoHighLevel gives a nonprofit a shared inbox, forms, automated follow-up, email and text messaging, and donation forms. It was designed for sales and marketing teams, so it treats a donor as a contact in a pipeline and not as a giving record.
The job most small nonprofits need done is simple. Someone asks about volunteering, an event or a donation, and nobody replies until the following week. HighLevel's workflows can send an instant reply, alert a staff member and keep reminding the supporter until the event or pledge date. For the basics of the platform, see what HighLevel is.
Donation forms: suggested amounts, custom amounts and recurring gifts
HighLevel's help center documents a payment element inside forms that covers donations. As read on 3 October 2026 it supports:
- Up to 15 suggested amounts, with an optional Other Amount field.
- A user-defined amount, where the donor types the figure.
- Recurring donations billed weekly, monthly or yearly.
- Online payment through a connected gateway. The article names Stripe, Authorize.net and NMI.
The same article lists limits. Refunds are not supported from the form payment element at this time, and it does not work inside multi-payment funnels. The article does not mention tax receipts or gift acknowledgement letters.
Texting supporters: the charity registration and its fee
US carriers require a registered campaign before a business number can send texts. HighLevel's use case list includes a Charity category for registered 501(c)(3) organizations, which requires tax-exempt documentation during registration. Its fee article lists that campaign at $3.00 per month, against $10.00 for a standard campaign, with one-time brand registration from $22.50. HighLevel says these are pass-through charges with no markup.
No nonprofit discount appears on HighLevel's pricing page, so plan on the standard prices.
Plan choice and a worked month for a 2,000-supporter charity
One organization needs one sub-account, so the Starter plan at $97 per month, or $970 per year, is the one to price. It includes unlimited contacts and unlimited users, which helps when volunteers need logins. Prices were read on 3 October 2026 and can change.
Assume 2,000 supporters, two email newsletters in the month, and 500 one-segment event reminder texts.
| Item | Calculation | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Starter plan | Flat fee | $97.00 |
| Local phone number | 1 x $1.15 | $1.15 |
| A2P Charity campaign fee | Recurring | $3.00 |
| 4,000 emails at $0.675 per 1,000 | $2.70 | |
| Text reminders | 500 segments x $0.00747 | $3.74 |
| Total | $107.59 |
Carrier per-message fees and your payment gateway's own card fees are extra and are not in this total. Usage is drawn from a prepaid wallet that recharges automatically, so check it after the first campaign. The usage review page shows what to look for, and the HighLevel cost breakdown lists every charge type.
The limitation: it is not a donor database
Fundraising teams usually need a record of every gift, pledge and acknowledgement per supporter, and reports built around giving history. The HighLevel documentation read for this guide describes contacts, pipelines, forms and payments. It does not describe donor-specific records or receipts. You could build some of this with custom fields, but you would be designing it yourself.
Before committing, list the reports your treasurer and board ask for, and check each one against what you can produce in a trial.
Little Green Light as the alternative built for small nonprofits
Little Green Light is a donor management system priced by the number of constituent records, not by user. Its pricing page, read on 3 October 2026, shows:
| Criterion | HighLevel Starter | Little Green Light |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $97 per month | $45 per month for up to 2,500 constituents |
| Next tier | $297 per month (Unlimited) | $60 per month for up to 5,000 constituents |
| Users | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Free trial | 14 days | 30 days, no card required |
| Annual billing | $970 per year | 10% off for 12 months prepaid |
| Built for | Lead capture, messaging, automation | Donor and gift records |
Choose Little Green Light if your main need is clean giving records at the lowest cost. Choose HighLevel if your main gap is fast replies, reminders and campaign pages, and a spreadsheet or accounting system already holds the gift history. Some organizations will reasonably run both.
