Which missed call text back software fits which business
Missed call text back software sends an automatic SMS to a caller your business did not answer, and the best choice depends on what else you need the tool to do. For a phone line with an auto-reply and nothing more, Quo starts at $28 per user a month, or $15 billed annually. For a CRM, pipeline and automation around the text, GoHighLevel starts at $97 a month. For a trade business already scheduling jobs in Jobber, the Jobber AI Receptionist add-on is $29 a month.
Every product below states the feature on its own website. Prices were read on 3 October 2026 and can change. This site has not used any of these products hands-on; the comparison is built from vendor pricing pages and help documentation.
Six missed call text back services and their entry prices
| Product | What the vendor calls it | Entry price | Best at | One limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GoHighLevel | Missed Call Text Back | $97 a month (Starter), plus usage | Text back tied to a CRM, pipelines and workflows, with unlimited users | Texts every missed call, repeats included, unless you build a workflow with a wait step |
| Quo (formerly OpenPhone) | Auto-replies | $28 per user a month, or $15 billed annually | Cheap, simple phone line with a built-in 3-hour cooldown per contact | Auto-replies can only be set up in the web or desktop app, not on mobile |
| JustCall | SMS automation for unanswered calls | $29 per user a month billed annually, minimum 2 users | Different messages for business hours and after hours, logged to a CRM | Two-user minimum, and the SMS bundle excludes texts sent by workflows |
| Jobber AI Receptionist | Receptionist | $29 a month add-on, on top of a Jobber plan | Home service firms that want the reply to book a visit or take a request | Needs a Jobber subscription; it is not a standalone phone tool |
| Grasshopper | Instant Response | From $14 a month, per its pricing page heading | Solo owners who want a virtual number with no extra fee for the text | Texts new callers only, and the service is sold only in the USA and Canada |
| Podium | Re-engage Missed Callers | Not published; quote on request | Businesses that also want reviews, webchat and an AI agent to continue the chat | No public price to compare before a sales call |
Quo also lists a one-time $19.50 US carrier registration fee and a messaging fee of $1.50 to $3 a month. GoHighLevel bills the phone number, each SMS segment and registration separately. The full breakdown is in how much missed call text back costs.
How the six products differ in what triggers the text
The trigger rules differ more than the prices do. GoHighLevel sends an SMS for every inbound call that rings past its Incoming Call Timeout, including calls outside business hours and repeat calls from the same person. Quo lets you set separate auto-replies for missed calls, new voicemails and incoming texts, each with a business-hours and after-hours version, and it sends at most one auto-reply every three hours per contact. It also stays silent if you recently called or messaged that contact.
JustCall's product page describes separate messages for business hours and after hours, plus callback links and booking URLs in the text. Grasshopper's Instant Response is narrower: it texts new callers only, so a regular client who calls again gets nothing. Jobber's Receptionist goes further than a single text. It answers calls and texts around the clock, texts back callers who hang up, and can book a visit or record a request. Podium offers a plain text or an AI agent that carries on the conversation.
Where GoHighLevel fits and where it does not
GoHighLevel fits when the text is the first step of a longer follow-up. The caller becomes a contact, the reply lands in a shared inbox, and a workflow can notify staff or move the lead through a pipeline. Its Starter plan has unlimited users and contacts, so a five-person office pays the same $97 as a solo owner. Setup is covered in the GoHighLevel setup steps.
It does not fit an owner who only wants a phone number that replies by text. At $97 plus usage it costs more than three times Quo's monthly price, and the default feature has no cooldown. It is also not a job scheduling tool, so a plumber or electrician already in Jobber gains little by adding a second system.
A recommendation by buyer type
- Solo owner who wants a business line that texts back: Quo, or Grasshopper if texting only first-time callers is enough.
- Office with two or more people answering phones and a separate CRM: JustCall, because of its hours-based messages and CRM logging.
- Home service company on Jobber: the Jobber AI Receptionist add-on.
- Business that wants CRM, pipeline, booking and text back in one account: GoHighLevel Starter.
- Multi-location business that wants reviews and webchat too: ask Podium for a quote and compare it with the totals above.
Whichever you choose, US texting from a local number needs carrier registration first. How missed call text back works explains that step and the consent rules.
