GoHighLevel for restaurants: missed calls, reviews and repeat visits, and what it does not replace

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerGoHighLevel helps a restaurant answer missed calls, collect reviews and send offers from $97 per month. It is not a point of sale or ordering system, so most restaurants need Toast or similar first.

Is GoHighLevel useful for a restaurant?

GoHighLevel is useful for a restaurant as a messaging and marketing layer, and not as the system that runs service. It answers the phone inquiry nobody could pick up on a Friday night, asks diners for reviews and sends offers to past guests.

The restaurant lead job is narrow. Calls about tables, private events and catering arrive during the busiest hours. Each unanswered call for a large party can be a lost booking. Everything else in the product matters less to a restaurant than that one job, which is why missed call text back is the feature to judge it on.

What HighLevel's own restaurant and bar playbook sets up

HighLevel's help center has an industry playbook for restaurants and bars. It has five stages:

  1. Capture. Install the SMS web chat widget, connect Google Business Profile messaging and switch on Missed Call Text Back.
  2. Nurture. Save text snippets for common answers and turn on Conversation AI to reply to inquiries.
  3. Sell. Connect a payment integration for payment forms, paid appointment calendars, Text-2-Pay and Tap-2-Pay.
  4. Reviews. Set up email and SMS review request templates.
  5. Repeat visits. Build newsletter email templates for news and promotions.

That list is honest about the product's shape. It is about conversations, payments by link, reviews and email. The playbook was last modified in October 2023, so check current menus in a trial.

Plan and a worked month for one busy location

One restaurant needs one sub-account. Starter costs $97 per month or $970 per year and includes unlimited users, so every manager can have a login. A group with more than three locations would need Unlimited at $297 per month. Prices were read on 3 October 2026 and can change.

Assume the restaurant routes its main line through a HighLevel number. It takes 900 calls averaging 90 seconds, 300 are missed and get an automatic text, 150 callers reply, 400 review request texts go out, and two newsletters go to 3,000 past guests.

Worked example: one restaurant, one month (US rates read 3 October 2026)

Newsletters6,000 emails at $0.675 per 1,000$4.05

A one-time A2P brand registration of $22.50 and variable carrier fees are extra. Conversation AI and Voice AI are premium usage-billed features and are not in this example. See the full HighLevel cost breakdown for the other charge types.

The limitation: no reservations book, online ordering or point of sale

HighLevel's restaurant playbook does not mention table reservations, online ordering, menus or point of sale. HighLevel has booking calendars, but nothing in the documentation read for this guide describes table and floor management, kitchen tickets or delivery. A missed-call text can link to your booking or ordering page, but the booking itself happens in another system.

There is also a practical point. The automatic text only works if calls reach a HighLevel number that is registered for SMS. If you keep your existing landline untouched, nothing fires. The page on how missed call text back works explains the call path.

Toast as the restaurant-first alternative

Toast is a restaurant point of sale platform. Its pricing page, read on 3 October 2026, lists a Starter Kit starting at $0 per month, Point of Sale starting at $69 per month, and Build Your Own starting at $69 per month plus $9 per employee per month. Those prices apply to new customers with a single location, and hardware and implementation are separate upfront costs.

Most restaurants should get the point of sale and ordering system right first, and use its marketing add-ons if they are enough. Add HighLevel when missed calls and private event inquiries are costing you bookings, or when you want review requests and offers that the point of sale does not cover.
