WhatsApp is a paid add-on built into GoHighLevel
GoHighLevel's WhatsApp integration is native but not included in the plan price. It is an add-on that HighLevel's help center prices at $10 per month per sub-account, as read on 3 October 2026, charged to the agency account. Messages are billed on top, per delivered message, by Meta's categories. No Zapier step or outside app is needed.
Once connected, WhatsApp messages arrive in the same conversations inbox as SMS and email, and workflows can send WhatsApp templates. Clients find it in the sub-account under Settings then WhatsApp.
What the add-on costs: subscription plus message charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Subscription | $10 per month per sub-account |
| Marketing message, North America | $0.0263 per message (rate listed through 30 September 2026) |
| Utility message, North America | $0.0036 per message (rate listed through 30 September 2026) |
| Service messages | First 1,000 per phone number each month free, then charged per message (from 1 October 2026) |
| Conversations from Click-to-WhatsApp ads | Free for 72 hours |
| Processing fee | 5% added to message rates |
| Rebilling to clients | Default 1.05X multiplier, adjustable from 1X to 10X |
One caution. The guide's rate table was labelled as valid through 30 September 2026 and announced changes from 1 October. It did not show a separate updated North America row, so confirm the two per-message rates in your account. Rates vary by recipient country.
A worked example at those September rates, which may have changed since: 500 marketing messages cost $13.15, or about $13.81 with the 5% fee. With the $10 subscription the month comes to about $23.81, on top of the HighLevel plan. The HighLevel cost page covers plan prices and SMS rates.
Three ways to connect a WhatsApp number
- Keep your WhatsApp Business app (Coexistence). The same number works in the phone app and the CRM. You scan a QR code and can import up to six months of chat history. One number only, and not for Nigerian or South African numbers.
- Create a new WhatsApp Business account. Sign in with Facebook, enter a business number, verify it by one-time passcode and select your Meta business portfolio.
- Migrate from another provider. Choose the option for moving from an existing BSP, enter the business details and number and verify by passcode.
Setup steps in order
- At agency level, set WhatsApp pricing in the Reselling tab, or deploy it manually by accepting the terms and paying. Reselling needs the agency's Stripe account connected.
- In the sub-account open Settings, then WhatsApp.
- Pick one of the three connection methods above.
- Complete the Facebook sign-in and verify the phone number.
- Create message templates and wait for Meta to approve them before using them in workflows.
- Send a test message in each direction and check it appears in the conversations inbox.
Limits to know before paying
- Templates only send from the CRM. With Coexistence, template messages cannot be sent from the WhatsApp Business app.
- Coexistence throughput is fixed at 20 messages per second.
- Profile management stays in the app, not the CRM, under Coexistence.
- History sync has a deadline. You get 24 hours after onboarding to sync contacts and history.
- Cancelling takes a ticket. The agency guide says cancellation after purchase needs a support request.
- WhatsApp calling is not available in the US, according to the pricing guide.
- Missed Call Text Back sends SMS. HighLevel treats WhatsApp as a separate feature.
Who the WhatsApp add-on suits and who should skip it
It suits a business whose customers already message on WhatsApp, which is common outside the US, and that wants those chats in one inbox with automation and booking. At $10 per month per sub-account the fixed cost is low. Marketing volume is what drives the bill.
A US business whose customers text by SMS gains little. It is better served by missed call text back over SMS. A team that only wants a shared WhatsApp inbox and no CRM can look at a dedicated tool such as WATI or Respond.io, both named in HighLevel's own comparison article. The integrations overview lists the other channels.
