GoHighLevel has a built-in Xero connection for invoices
GoHighLevel integrates with Xero natively, under Settings then Integrations then Xero in a sub-account. It is a one-way invoice sync: invoices created in HighLevel are created in Xero, and contacts are imported from Xero into HighLevel so each invoice maps to the right Xero contact. HighLevel announced the integration on 30 September 2025.
The help article names no HighLevel plan requirement and no fee. Xero is billed separately by Xero.
What goes to Xero and what stays behind
| Item | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Invoices | Created in Xero from HighLevel, with line items and discounts |
| Invoice status | Updates such as Sent, Partially Paid and Void are passed to Xero |
| Contacts | Imported from Xero into HighLevel for mapping |
| Taxes | An existing matching Xero tax rate is applied. If none exists, a new rate is created |
| Currencies | A currency not yet enabled is added to the Xero organization |
| Receipts | Not synced. The article says this is planned |
| Products and items | Not synced. Line items exist on the invoice only |
Setup steps in order
- In the sub-account open Settings, then Integrations, then the Xero tile.
- Click Connect. A Xero window opens.
- Sign in to Xero, choose the organization to connect and allow access.
- Choose the default Xero account that invoices will post to.
- Create and send one test invoice in HighLevel and confirm it appears in Xero.
If the list of accounts in step 4 looks incomplete, the help center's fix is to enable payments on the relevant accounts in Xero's advanced settings and then reconnect.
Limits: one organization, new invoices only, no receipts
- One Xero organization per HighLevel account connection. A business with two Xero organizations cannot post to both from one sub-account.
- Only invoices created after connecting sync. Earlier invoices stay in HighLevel.
- No receipt sync and no product catalog sync at the time of reading.
- Multi-currency depends on your Xero plan. The article says the Xero plan must support it.
- Invoices do not flow from Xero to HighLevel. An invoice raised directly in Xero will not appear in the CRM.
How Xero compares with the QuickBooks connection
| Criterion | Xero | QuickBooks Online |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice direction | HighLevel to Xero only | HighLevel to QuickBooks, plus optional import of older QuickBooks invoices |
| Contacts | Imported from Xero | Two-way, matched by email |
| Payments | Receipts not synced | Sales receipts recorded for several payment types |
| Review request on paid invoice | Not listed | Available |
| Product catalog | Not synced | Not listed |
The QuickBooks link is the older and broader of the two. The QuickBooks integration page has its details.
Who it suits and what to check afterwards
The Xero connection suits a business that raises invoices in HighLevel and wants them in Xero without retyping, with one Xero organization and simple tax rates. It does not suit a business that needs payments reconciled automatically or products kept in step. Until receipt sync arrives, payments still need marking in Xero or matching from the bank feed.
After connecting, check three things. Compare a test invoice line by line, including tax and discount. Look at Xero's tax rates for new rates the sync created, since a mismatch creates a fresh rate instead of failing. Confirm the invoice posted to the account you chose. The integrations overview lists the other built-in connections, and the HighLevel cost page covers plan prices.
